From Wednesday to Friday, Viloti didn’t show up for class.
Likewise, Adelina was nowhere to be seen in her own academy.
The incident in the underground city was cleared up after discussions from both sides. The misunderstanding was resolved and didn't cause any further trouble.
Still, Felyn could sense things weren’t going to end just like that.
Especially since a certain ultra-competitive young lady had been inexplicably attacked by her rival.
At first, Felyn had thought Adelina asking him to confess in public was just his imagination, but now it actually seemed more and more possible.
“Ah... What should I even do? Can’t a meteor just fall and smash Silvermoon Valley already?”
Felyn rolled around on his bed like an ostrich burying its head in the sand.
It was already Saturday, and he still hadn’t picked out a suit, which went to show just how much he didn’t want to attend that banquet.
Originally, he could’ve come up with some excuse to not go. But after what happened in the underground city, Felyn didn’t dare skip it. He was afraid Adelina would redirect her anger at him.
And besides, Adelina gave him ten thousand crowns!
Only an idiot would refuse that kind of money.
Felyn had already kind of given up when it came to Viloti. Whatever she thought of him now, it didn’t really matter anymore.
But the problem was that Viloti didn’t know Felyn had been hired by her father. She would think he genuinely liked her.
And if Adelina and Viloti ran into each other and started comparing notes, then he’d be certified as a scumbag on the spot.
Adelina would one hundred percent think he was chasing Viloti using the money she’d given him.
That childhood paper airplane, heavy with trauma, came crashing into her forehead once again.
Not to mention Viloti had just attacked Adelina. The prize pool was about to stack up again!
What kind of Adelina would he be facing then? Felyn didn’t even dare to imagine!
“Monday is the day after tomorrow.”
Felyn got up from the bed and looked at the calendar on the desk.
“Come to think of it, Daiyi’s coming back on Monday too.”
The young lady he sent off at the station last week was now already returning.
Just thinking about her twisted sense of humor made Felyn shudder.
She was a hard one to deal with!
Thankfully she wasn’t coming back on Sunday. Otherwise she might show up at the banquet too.
Around noon, Felyn relcuntly stepped outside.
He took the ring Adelina had given him from his home and, carrying the outfit Viloti had just gifted him, made his way to his usual second-hand luxury store.
“Mr. Felyn, got something good again?”
Miss Naya, the shopkeeper’s daughter, got along quite well with him.
Part of it was because he always brought in second-hand goods that barely looked used.
The other part… well, not to brag, but with this face and this mouth, ordinary girls didn’t stand a chance.
He was a male model, after all. Know your place, kid!
“Yeah. A gift from my boss. This ring.”
Naya took the ring from Felyn, holding it up under the light to examine it closely.
“Oh my god, this is the latest Seraphina Calanceria gemstone ring! Their launch event was just held like a week ago, and you already got your hands on it?”
Naya’s short, chestnut-colored hair curled slightly at the ends. Her eyes widened as she stared at the ring.
She wore a rare crystal bracelet on her slender wrist, something her father had gotten from an elven merchant—though it now seemed totally unimpressive in comparison.
“Your boss... does she like girls? I’m available!”
Brand new, no scratches, certified genuine.
She just gave it away.
What kind of god-tier client was this?
“I’ve been working hard, okay? Dealing with this old woman every day.”
Naya carefully placed the ring in a jewelry box, and couldn't help but shiver slightly at the thought of a greasy old lady with a disgusting smell.
Felyn always told others that his clients were just a bunch of old ladies.
It earned him a bit of sympathy, and helped him sell things for higher prices.
“How much are you asking?”
“Five hundred thousand crowns.”
“The new ones retail for five hundred fifty thousand! That price is outrageous!”
“Naya, do you know why I always come to your store to sell things?”
Felyn paused, pretending to be deep in thought.
“Eh? Why?”
“Because of you, of course.”
Naya froze in place, her heart starting to pound like a drum.
“Just like a believer goes to church every week for worship, I want to come here every week. Others might not see it that way, but in my heart, you’ve always been like a goddess.”
Naya stood stunned, eyes widening, her cheeks quickly turning pink.
Felyn gently took her slightly stiff hand, making the girl let out a quiet gasp.
“G-Goddess? Stop it... I’m not a goddess...”
She murmured softly, her voice a little more delicate than usual, with a subtle tremble. The corners of her lips curled upward, though she tried to hold it back, afraid of showing too much.
“Most people look down on me once they learn what I do for a living. Only you’ve ever looked me in the eye. Someone who makes everyone happy is a goddess to the world. But someone who makes me happy is my own personal goddess.”
He leaned in closer to Naya’s face, so close he could feel her quickened breath.
“I mean... it’s not impossible... I’ll just treat it like buying it for myself...” Naya was defeated.
Felyn wasn’t a scumbag who tricked innocent girls.
He had calculated everything—this limited-edition ring had sold out the moment it launched. It was in high demand.
Even second-hand versions were scarce. And the one Felyn brought in was almost untouched. It's 99% new.
Naya could easily flip this ring for another huge profit.
“Hey! You brat! Trying to scam my daughter again?!”
Just as Felyn thought he had sealed the deal, a burly man in a blue-and-white striped shirt stormed in.
“Felyn! Hands off!”
The man’s roar was grating.
How could his precious daughter be defeated so easily by this guy?
“Dad? I... I didn’t!”
Naya panicked, hastily taking the ring off.
Felyn laughed awkwardly. He knew full well he looked just like some punk right now.
If he dared say, “Old man, if I leave my Ghostfire parked downstairs, will it get stolen?” he’d probably get his face turned into a pig’s snout.
“Four hundred seventy thousand. That’s the max I’ll go!”
The shopkeeper snatched the ring and glared at Felyn after a quick look.
“Dad! That’s...”
Naya clung to her father’s sleeve, biting her lip, showing worry in her eyes as she looked at Felyn.
Why don’t you just hand over the whole store to him?! the shopkeeper raged inside.
Felyn acted like he was weighing the offer, then reluctantly nodded.
“Alright. Just because it’s Miss Naya asking, I’ll let it go for that.”
Naya lowered her head, hiding her eyes behind her hair.
Seeing this, the shopkeeper wanted nothing more than to kick Felyn out right then and there.
“I’ve also got a custom outfit—never worn.”
Felyn took out the outfit Viloti had given him and laid it on the counter.
“One hundred fifty thousand crowns. No haggling.”
The shopkeeper took one look and knew it was high-end and brand new.
“For Miss Naya’s sake, I’ll give you one hundred thirty thousand. But I want to pick a second-hand suit in exchange.”
The shopkeeper grunted, quickly transferred the money to Felyn’s account, and shielded his daughter behind him.
“Pick your suit upstairs. Nothing over fifty thousand.”
“Dad, let me help Mr. Felyn choose something,” Naya tugged at her father’s sleeve and looked up at him with hopeful eyes.
“You...”
Girls can't be kept at home when they grow up.
The shopkeeper waved his hand and went back to his room, deciding to no longer care about their affair.
Let the world burn.
Naya spent half the day tailoring and adjusting the clothes to match Felyn’s build.
“Miss Naya, you don’t need to be so thorough. You’re working too hard.”
“No! Since it’s for Mr. Felyn, it has to be perfect.”
She’s playing wife, right? This is totally the wife roleplay!
Looks like next time he brings something to sell, he won’t even have to bother negotiating.
Felyn looked at his reflection in the mirror.
The deep blue suit perfectly complimented his figure. The tailored shoulders made him look even taller. The gold patterns subtly shimmered under the light, highlighting his already striking features.
The silk bow tie at the collar gleamed faintly, and the pleats on the shirt were just right—every detail screamed quality.
Not bad at all. And no one would guess it was second-hand. That saved him quite a bit of cash.
Adelina had given him ten thousand crowns to buy a suit, and now he could pocket all of it.
The ring and the outfit from Viloti had sold for a total of six hundred thousand.
Spend a little, gain a lot. Just shifting items between hands earned him seven hundred thousand.
When Naya saw Felyn’s pure, content smile, her cheeks turned red again.
Thankfully, the clothes she carefully chose and altered pleased him. He looked genuinely happy.
He’s not like other men!
Felyn had once complained to Naya before. She knew he had a younger sister—her monthly treatment alone cost three hundred thousand crowns. Rumor had it she was close to waking up.
If his little sister saw her brother like this now, she’d probably be really happy, too, right?
But what Naya didn’t know was that Felyn had only one thing on his mind.
The banquet’s tomorrow. Why hasn’t the meteor hit yet?
