Starting from the Planetary Governor - Chapter 77

Chapter 77: Execution by Firing Squad

At this moment, Mondok was doomed to not escape.

The one who took action was still Sister Superior Gretel.

She knew that for Gu Hang, capturing this rebel leader alive would be more valuable, even though the end for this man was still inevitable death.

After slicing through a tank, Sister Superior did not stop; instead, she accelerated further.

She leaped high, and the combat backpack behind her suddenly emitted deep green flames, propelling her body to accelerate fiercely in mid-air. The command vehicle, which had just started moving, had not yet picked up speed, was approached closely by Sister Superior.

She fired her gun single-handedly in mid-air, accurately sniping the infantry accompanying the command vehicle one by one. By the time she landed, there were no more enemies around.

With a flourish of her long halberd, she sliced off half of the command vehicle’s rear wheels. With another slash, she cut open the door, revealing Mondok’s terrified face.

Despite his fear, the rebel leader still displayed a semblance of bravery. Trembling, he raised the handgun he had prepared and pulled the trigger at Sister Superior.

However, how could the bullets from an ordinary self-defense handgun affect the feedback power armor of Sister Superior? He only managed to fire one shot before the bullet bounced off the armor. Immediately, he was grabbed by the collar with a single hand by Sister Superior and pulled directly out of the vehicle.

Like a dead dog, the general was dragged along the ground by Gretel with one hand as she walked towards Gu Hang. He struggled continuously, but it was futile; Sister Superior’s grip was like iron and did not loosen at all.

The surviving bodyguard soldiers could only watch helplessly.

The once high-and-mighty general was now being dragged on the ground. Some of them wanted to save him but had no idea how. Bullets were useless; using heavy firepower could risk killing the general along with it.

What was even more terrifying were these dozen or so male and female warriors themselves.

They had faced these elite superhuman warriors of the Empire head-on, and their only feeling was: “Can such enemies even be considered human?”

Impervious to blades and bullets, unaffected by artillery. Yet, a single shot from the opponent could take out crowds of their men.

Those Death Angels strolled through their defenses and captured their general as if it were a walk in the park.

They had fought to the death but could do nothing but die.

Such an inevitable, unwinnable battle— they couldn’t continue fighting anymore.
Seeing their general captured, they even felt a sense of relief: “We lost; can we stop fighting now?”

Such thoughts filled their minds, and their trigger fingers became less firm.

The Star Warriors also reduced their firepower, not bothering with soldiers who had hidden. They only targeted those still resisting.

The Phoenix Battalion was notoriously poor; in their eyes, explosive rounds were more valuable than the lives of these local rebel soldiers.

At this moment, Gretel had brought Mondok before Gu Hang.

Now, the always tough and combat-ready General Mondok had lost all his usual demeanor. Dragged along the ground, half his face had been scraped. By the time he reached Gu Hang, that side of his face was a bloody mess, and his body was covered in blood, dust, and tattered clothes, making him look extremely pathetic.

He was thrown in front of Gu Hang, struggling to get up but too pained to do so.

However, he didn’t need to get up by himself.

An invisible force lifted his body, raising him up.

He was now face-to-face with Gu Hang.

He tried to open his mouth and say something, but not a single word came out. Another invisible force blocked his throat, making it difficult to even breathe, let alone speak.

This was, of course, Gu Hang’s doing.

Regardless of whether this guy wanted to make a final stand or beg for mercy, Gu Hang had no intention of listening.

Now, Mondok’s attitude was completely irrelevant. For Gu Hang, capturing this guy alive meant he had only one use left.

“Security is up to you guys,” Gu Hang’s voice echoed in the ears of the Star Warriors and Battle Sisters.
Gretel nodded with a smile.

In fact, this was mainly directed at her.

Next, Gu Hang would expose himself to the enemy’s gunfire. He wasn’t worried about ordinary soldiers, or even artillery bombardments; he had ways to handle those.

What he was concerned about were the cultists from the Original Owl Beast Sect potentially hiding within the army.

That was a possibility.

If they acted in concert with some controlled soldiers’ bullets and artillery, it could indeed pose a threat to him.

Death was unlikely; at worst, he’d retreat into the protection of the Star Warriors and Battle Sisters. Could anyone on this Fury Owl Planet break through the protection of these nineteen people and kill him?
Impossible, absolutely impossible!
However, doing so would be somewhat embarrassing and detrimental to Gu Hang’s effort to establish his authority.

He needed Sister Superior Gretel to ensure he didn’t end up in such an awkward situation.

This had been discussed beforehand, and Sister Superior had readily agreed.
Or rather, if it were merely about helping the Governor suppress the rebellion, the Sisters of the Sacred Lily would be less interested. Their main objective on the ground was to combat heretical cults.

And now, this task of “keeping an eye out for potential cultist attacks” was right up their alley.

Gu Hang withdrew his gaze and looked back at Mondok.

It was time to put this Alliance General to use.

Under the power of his telekinetic control, Gu Hang’s body began to rise into the air, taking Mondok with him.

Gu Hang’s golden Governor’s robe fluttered without wind. His expression was severe and solemn as he overlooked the entire battlefield.

Mondok’s figure was slightly lower than his, bound by psionic energy that restrained his limbs and throat, rendering him immobile and unable to speak.

Only Gu Hang’s voice, amplified by psionic power, resonated across the scene.

“All soldiers, lay down your weapons!”

“I am Gu Hang, the Empire’s representative to whom you swore allegiance. I am the executor of the God Emperor’s rule over this land…”

“I am the master of Fury Owl Planet, I am your Governor!”

“And this man, whom you call General, has betrayed the Empire, betrayed the God Emperor, and betrayed… me!”

Upon hearing this, the expressions of the Star Warriors and Battle Sisters subtly changed.

Betraying the Governor indeed equates to betraying the Empire; betraying the Empire is tantamount to betraying the God Emperor. Technically correct, but the Governor placing himself on an equal footing with the Empire and the God Emperor felt somewhat off to them.
But they said nothing.

Gu Hang didn’t care what these devout followers of the God Emperor were thinking; he continued,
“I hereby declare, in the name of the Emperor, that General Mondok is stripped of his rank and judged as an Imperial traitor!”

“Soldiers, whatever orders you previously received are now entirely null and void. In the name of the Governor, I command all of you to lay down your weapons. Your past actions will no longer be pursued; but from this moment on, anyone who disobeys will likewise be considered a traitor!”

As he spoke, Gu Hang raised a handgun, aimed it at Mondok’s forehead, and executed him with a single shot.
