Bored.
Is this what the boring and tasteless life of the rich is like?
After entering the dungeon, the nearly one hundred guards vanished from sight, remaining hidden in the shadows around them.
Adelina followed beside Felyn, carrying a small bag filled with snacks and water.
Wait a second. This isn’t right, is it?
The civilian teams they had just passed were all locked in fierce battles, while they themselves felt like they were on a spring outing in the dungeon.
“Felyn, look! There’s a magical beast up ahead, and it’s conveniently injured.”
Eh?
Why was Adelina still putting on this act of a “conveniently injured” beast?
If you’re going to stage it, then at least hide those guards better so I don’t see through it.
Felyn stepped forward. It was a Tier 4 magical beast, and it likely held a Tier 4 magic crystal inside.
One Tier 4 magic crystal equaled 100 Tier 1 crystals.
“Felyn, finish it off quickly.”
The royal capital had devices that could detect which person had hunted a beast through the magic crystal's aura.
Otherwise, a noble lady like Adelina would never be out here personally hunting beasts.
Felyn approached, seeing his own reflection in the beast’s eyes.
“I really wanted to test my cheat skill, but even that seems unnecessary now…”
Spell Seals were tools used to store divine arts.
For those who hadn’t yet learned divine magic, Spell Seals were their only means of attack.
Back when he played this game, there was a guy on the forums who had discovered a bug.
If you stacked two Spell Seals of any level and activated them simultaneously, then deactivated them at the same time, the system would glitch.
The two Spell Seals would randomly unleash an effect from Tier 1 to Tier 7, while only consuming one of the two seals.
If the caster happened to be in physical contact with another person, the system would become even more unstable—the larger the area of contact, the higher the chance of triggering a higher-tier spell.
Felyn had hoped to take advantage of this and grab a teammate to boost the odds, but apparently, that wouldn’t be necessary right now.
He pulled out a Tier 1 Spell Seal and finished the magical beast off.
“Not bad. A Tier 4 magic crystal dropped.”
Felyn wiped the blood from his hands with a handkerchief and gave Adelina a reassuring smile.
Spell Seals were less powerful than divine magic and extremely expensive. One Tier 1 seal cost 1,000 crowns. Anything above Tier 4 was hard to buy even with money.
He could only afford a few Tier 1 Spell Seals. A single Tier 2 seal cost 5,000 crowns, something he could not afford.
So, Spell Seals were nothing more than supplemental tools. If one wanted real power, they had to go to the capital and learn divine arts.
Along the way, Felyn and Adelina “coincidentally encountered” several more injured Tier 3 magical beasts.
“That should be enough magic crystals for me. Felyn, how many do you still need?”
Felyn counted the crystals in his bag. Just a few more beasts and he’d meet the capital’s entrance exam requirements.
Which brought him to a pressing question—
When was Adelina planning to make her move?
Would she wait until I gathered enough crystals and was in high spirits, then stab me in the back?
Was she really that vicious?
Felyn glanced sideways at Adelina.
She had held a grudge from kindergarten until now. Of course she was that vicious!
“What are you thinking about?”
Adelina looked at Felyn’s serious expression and smiled slightly.
She didn’t need to ask to know—Felyn must be overwhelmed with emotion and gratitude for her right now.
She really was too kind-hearted. She had hired Felyn, yet was treating him this well.
“I just think… Lady Adelina is so gentle. Despite your prestigious family background, you never look down on me, a fallen noble. You’re like a goddess.”
“G-G-Goddess? You’re exaggerating, haha!”
Adelina fanned her slightly flushed cheeks, her tied-up ponytail bouncing along with the motion.
He thinks I’m a goddess. He’s really loves me.
Felyn squinted at Adelina, who looked like a wind-up doll twisted 30,000 times, swaying mechanically.
Is this girl really okay?
Just as he thought that, another magical beast appeared up ahead.
This one was still fairly healthy—it could at least still run.
A Tier 1 beast, the weakest type in the dungeon. It charged at them, roaring, unleashing its rage.
Wait. This is it.
“Lady Adelina, watch out!”
Felyn grabbed Adelina’s hand and pulled her behind him.
Her soft chest pressed against Felyn’s back, making Adelina’s eyes go wide. She even forgot to scream.
That’s right. He’d used this chance to touch Adelina. His so-called butter hands at work.
It was rare to get a moving beast. All he needed to do was act concerned for Adelina, grab her hand in the chaos, and test whether the cheat skill actually worked.
If Adelina really did try to kill him later, at least he’d have a shot at survival.
Felyn pulled out his prized pair of Tier 1 Spell Seals, activated them at the same time, and immediately canceled them.
Then he tightly held Adelina’s hand—activating the bug!
Blue spell patterns began to glow, and soon the stable patterns became chaotic.
A burst of light that clearly wasn’t from a Tier 1 spell erupted, unleashing a torrent of blazing fire.
Tier 4 spell: Azure Flame Storm!
It worked!
The Tier 1 magical beast was instantly incinerated to ash.
“Lady Adelina, are you hurt? I’m sorry, I was just so worried it might hurt you… I got a little panicked…”
Felyn’s voice trailed off.
Adelina sat on the ground, her head slightly lowered.
She tucked a few loose strands of hair behind her ear, revealing a bashful pink flush on her pale cheeks.
Her eyes kept flicking over to glance at Felyn before quickly darting away again. Her breathing was soft and quick, her body rising and falling with it.
Adelina’s mind was a total mess.
That… was a Tier 4 spell, right?
Felyn was so poor now, that seal must’ve been something he brought out before his family was destroyed—his last-resort treasure.
And just because a Tier 1 beast charged them, he feared for her safety and used it so easily.
If it was just an employment relationship, he wouldn’t have gone this far.
He must’ve panicked and instinctively wanted to protect me, without hesitation using that precious spell.
From the bright, innocent smile on the boy’s face in front of her, Adelina felt a fiery, heartfelt confession burning toward her.
He really loves me!
In the small dungeon, the two of them were frantically spinning their thoughts at lightning speed.
Only in completely opposite directions.
Just as Felyn reached out to help Adelina up, he noticed her expression change.
Her eyes widened, lips parted slightly.
A figure appeared before him in an instant, shielding Adelina from view. In a daze, Felyn saw the emblem of the Claude family on that person’s chest.
Then he heard a thunderous explosion, and dizziness overwhelmed him. His vision began to blur.
So in the end… she did make her move?
