Chapter 28

After dinner, the atmosphere in the room grew a little heavy.

The once ambiguous air seemed to have been drained by an invisible hand, leaving behind only the faint glow from the desk lamp.

“Wait a second, I forgot to ask you.”

Adelina’s expression turned uncharacteristically serious.

Her elegant brows furrowed ever so slightly. “Are you from this world?”

Felyn froze.

Why did that question sound so familiar?

The night outside the city was slowly quieting down.

Only a few street lights still faithfully cast their warm glow.

Adelina sat at the desk, her rose-tea-colored hair draping over her shoulders, looking particularly soft under the light.

Felyn had originally thought that Adelina offering to tutor him was just another part of the play.

Maybe she wanted him to break down crying after the lesson, regretfully wailing that he must’ve been blind to have voted for Viloti as kindergarten class rep, when Lady Adelina was so gentle, kind, and brilliant.

But unexpectedly, she was serious.

Adelina, sitting beside him, seemed a little dazed.

She could feel her plans slowly slipping away from her.

She knew Felyn had been a lazy noble before, but she hadn’t expected his grades to be this terrible.

Adelina didn’t think Felyn was stupid.

On the contrary, she believed he was very smart, with a great memory.

He remembered all her preferences with perfect clarity.

But then why did he not know so many common knowledge?

“I’ll teach you one more time.”

Adelina’s hair casually brushed against Felyn’s arm, causing a soft, ticklish sensation.

Her slightly leaning figure gave off a gentle fragrance. Her fair face under the desk lamp looked especially tender.

Those beautiful eyes focused on the exercises, her lashes casting tiny shadows on her cheeks.

She sat with her legs crossed, revealing a pale stretch of thigh.

The skirt had risen just a little, the glimpse of scenery beyond teasing the imagination.

“This formula’s actually really simple, you just have to…”

Adelina truly deserved to be ranked number one in the hearts of Lanche Academy students as the perfect romantic lover.

What boy hasn’t fantasized about being tutored by a sweet, gentle beauty?

And usually, those fantasies include what might happen after the tutoring ends, in the privacy of a bedroom.

“Not bad, you’re picking it up fast.”

Adelina let out a small breath of relief.

Felyn wasn’t dumb—he was clearly making progress.

But time was too tight.

They’d have to work overtime tonight.

Adelina glanced at the clock on the wall.

It was already nine o’clock.

The Claude family’s guards usually patrolled around her home at about eleven.

They would definitely sense Felyn’s presence.

He couldn’t stay the night.

She bit her lip, a bold idea flashing through her mind:

If only she could lie to her father and say she was staying at a female classmate’s place…

But still…

Adelina bit her lip again, sneaking a glance at Felyn.

Going to a boy’s house late at night or something like that…

Her face instantly turned bright red.

This is just to reward an employee.

It’s definitely not for any other reason!

Adelina kept reassuring herself.

After all, she had promised Felyn she’d grant him a request.

Promises must be kept.

That’s the creed she lived by as a daughter of the Claude family, as student council president of Lanche Academy!

“Do you have an extra notebook in your bag? Give it to me—I’ll write down the key points.”

Adelina’s thoughts returned to the lesson.

“Got it, Lady Adelina.”

Felyn pulled out a notebook from his bag, a pink one with a unicorn on the cover, and placed it on the table.

“Watch closely. The key here is…”

Just as Adelina opened the notebook to write, Felyn snatched it back at lightning speed, leaving only a white blur in the air.

“What’s wrong?”

Adelina looked up and saw a flicker of panic in Felyn’s expression.

He clutched the notebook tightly, like he was guarding some absolute, unspeakable secret.

“Took the wrong one. This is one I don’t use. I’ll grab another.”

That was close!

That was Viloti’s notebook!

He’d been carrying it in his bag this whole time and forgotten to return it.

If Adelina saw that he had something of Viloti’s in his bag, this noble lady would immediately blacken.

The gentler she was now, the crazier her blackening would be.

Adelina nodded and peeked into Felyn’s bag, but said nothing.

The lesson continued.

“Lady Adelina, I’ll go make you a cup of hot milk.”

“Alright, thank you.”

As Felyn’s figure disappeared down the hallway, Adelina’s gaze slowly drifted back to his bag.

Her curiosity nudged her forward.

She inched closer to the bag.

“Looking through someone else’s bag is really rude…”

Adelina averted her eyes, muttering to herself.

But it was her first time seeing Felyn panic like that.

And the notebook had been pink.

Could it be a gift from another woman?

No way… not Viloti’s, right?

“M-Maybe just this once…”

Adelina gently unzipped Felyn’s bag and pulled out the pink unicorn notebook.

“S-Sorry, Felyn… I just…”

She took a deep breath and opened the notebook.

“Eh?”

She saw a page full of love confessions.

[Lady Adelina, I’ve actually fallen in love with you. I’m so torn. What should I do about my relationship with Viloti!]

Felyn stood at the doorway with the milk in his hands, peeking through the crack and watching as Adelina indeed went through his bag.

The corners of his mouth curved into a satisfied grin.

Women’s curiosity is always strong.

How could he not know that?

Especially when it came to other women. Their instincts were always surprisingly accurate.

Since he’d shown a weak spot in front of Adelina, he couldn’t just cover it up.

He had long since taken the unicorn cover off Viloti’s notebook and slipped it onto one of his own.

Hmph, don’t underestimate me!

Through the crack, he saw Adelina frozen beside the table.

She stiffly returned the notebook to his bag.

She must be feeling guilty for wrongly suspecting me, right?

Well then, give me a little cash as an apology!

Her white thighs squeezed her hands tightly, her body curled up small.

Her breasts spilled onto the table, her head buried deep in them.

Through the strands of her hair, Felyn could see her ears had turned so red they looked like they might bleed.

Is that the look of guilt on the face of the Claude family’s heiress?

Felyn felt like something was off, so he quickly pushed the door open and walked in, pretending nothing had happened.

“Lady Adelina, let’s continue.”

“…Mm.”

Adelina responded with a sound so soft it was nearly inaudible.

Her gaze drifted about.

A pink flush dusted her cheeks.

She kept sneaking glances at Felyn, only to quickly look away again.

That notebook was one Felyn used to doodle and practice love confessions in when bored.

He’d forgotten all about the silly things he wrote inside.

Adelina covered her flushed neck with her hand, desperate not to lose composure in front of Felyn.

No wonder he snatched the notebook back.

He was afraid I’d find out.

He really does love me!

Th-Then… going to his place tonight… might not be so bad…
