Chapter 13: Put Down the Gun
The next morning, Su Qinghan slowly woke from her dream; she glanced at Xiao Mumu, who was still sleeping, tear stains still visible on her face.
After re-chaining Xiao Mumu, she walked towards the living room wearing a sheer nightgown. She opened the window, and the cold wind blew across her face, yet she didn’t feel a trace of cold……
She looked at the heavy rain outside the window and fell into deep thought.
A single decision of hers could change the future, just like not giving those two men food; although they still killed that old man, the timing was different.
Also, why did Xiao Mumu appear, why hadn't she seen her in her previous life? Logically, she had just been reborn and hadn't done anything, so it shouldn't have affected the development.
Why?
The butterfly’s wings trembled slightly, the gentle breeze stirred the dust in the air, forming an extremely destructive tornado, hehe……
Su Qinghan went to the bathroom and looked at herself in the mirror; after being reborn, she didn’t have the initial panic and unease.
The corners of her mouth turned up; now, she was even a little excited.
The Mind Creation System ability was instantly activated, and a toothbrush appeared in her hand. She brushed her teeth, washed up, and made herself feel more refreshed.
Last night, she had played a bit too much; although Su Qinghan hadn't taken anything important from Xiao Mumu, she had directly tormented her until she fainted.
Meanwhile, Xiao Mumu opened her heavy eyelids, her dull eyes scanned the surroundings.
“What happened to me? My body hurts so much.”
The sound of rain was incessant; she struggled to prop herself up, and everything that happened last night instantly flooded her mind.
Tears silently streamed down her face, dripping onto the bed and disappearing.
“It’s really too much……”
Gurgle~
Xiao Mumu’s stomach rumbled; she clutched her stomach with a mournful expression, trying to alleviate her hunger this way.
“Such high intensity every day, and I don’t even get to eat my fill, I’ll… break down……”
If it was like this every night, she probably wouldn’t last long before dying.
A clap of thunder boomed, and the lightning illuminated the entire room; Xiao Mumu’s face appeared so pale under the lightning, like that of a dead person.
Just then, an unintentional glance of hers landed on the pistol Su Qinghan had previously pressed against her forehead, which was on the desk.
A bold idea suddenly popped into her head.
“If… if I kill Su Qinghan with this gun, then will I not be bullied anymore?”
“All that food will be mine, can I eat my fill then?”
The thoughts in her heart grew more intense, her heart pounded wildly, and cold sweat slid down her temples.
Having made a decision in her heart, she tiptoed towards the gun, an unprecedented courage welling up in her heart.
She reached out and picked up the heavy pistol, secretly hiding it under the pillow on the bed, to be taken out when Su Qinghan came.
Thinking this, Xiao Mumu returned to the bed, wrapped the quilt all over her body, leaving only her small white head exposed outside, staring at the door of the room.
Not long after, Su Qinghan, having finished washing up, walked towards the bedroom holding a cup of instant noodles and a pot of hot water.
She planned to make this cup of instant noodles for Xiao Mumu; after all, she had played too much last night and was afraid something might go wrong with her body.
If she broke down, she would lose an interesting toy.
Gently pushing open the door, she immediately saw the white furball with her head exposed, looking at her, her eyes filled with fear, and seemingly a bit of nervousness.
“What is she doing?” Su Qinghan said to Xiao Mumu with a smile: “Come here, these are instant noodles for you, make them yourself.”
Su Qinghan walked slowly into the room with a smile on her face. Seeing that Xiao Mumu didn’t react for a long time, she didn’t say much, just assuming it was because she had gone a bit too far last night.
Leading to her still being a little afraid of her now.
Placing the things in her hand on the desk, just as she was about to leave, her eyes unintentionally swept over the gun holster placed on the desk, and a burst of anger rose in her heart.
The gun holster was empty, the Makarov pistol inside was gone, and there were only her and Xiao Mumu in the room.
Su Qinghan didn’t even need to think to know that Xiao Mumu had taken the gun.
She frowned tightly, slowly walked to Xiao Mumu’s front, and said in as calm a tone as possible: “Take it out.”
Xiao Mumu looked at her without saying a word, her small hand hidden under the quilt fumbled for the pistol under the pillow, gripping it tightly.
Just as Su Qinghan took a step forward, she stopped, because Xiao Mumu was aiming the pistol at her.
Only, her clumsy way of holding the gun and her slightly trembling hand all indicated that she was very scared at this moment.
Like a stressed little cat, if you made any move that was unfavorable to it, it would bristle.
Su Qinghan’s calm face showed no fear, and even carried a hint of a smile, which made Xiao Mumu puzzled and somewhat terrified at the same time.
Looking at Su Qinghan approaching her, Xiao Mumu stammered and shouted loudly: “D... Don’t come over! If you come any closer, I... I’ll... shoot!”
Her tone carried determination, as if Su Qinghan took one more step forward, she would really shoot.
But, Su Qinghan knew she was pretending, and continued to approach Xiao Mumu.
The fear in Xiao Mumu’s eyes was further amplified, and tears covered her entire face.
Growing up, Xiao Mumu had never been in a fight, let alone killed someone with a gun; she didn’t even dare to kill chickens, ducks, or fish. Seeing blood was truly too terrifying for her.
If she hadn’t been forced to this point, where she could die at any moment, Xiao Mumu wouldn’t have picked up the gun; she was really so scared, without a shred of security.
“Are you really going to shoot?” A somewhat chilling voice came from her mouth and entered Xiao Mumu’s ears.
“You have to know, once you shoot, you will very likely die!”
Hearing this, Xiao Mumu was clearly stunned; she didn’t understand what Su Qinghan meant by this, what did she mean she might die?
Could it be that Su Qinghan wasn’t even afraid of bullets?
Xiao Mumu’s index finger on the trigger trembled slightly, which Su Qinghan saw. She continued: “In this apocalypse, do you really think you can survive just by having a gun and food?”
“Your weakness and frailty are telling you, you can’t.”
“Isn’t it nice to stay by my side? You don’t have to risk your life to find food, you just need to please me, and I won’t take your most important thing.”
Su Qinghan had already reached the bedside, her face slowly approaching the trembling Xiao Mumu, her mouth not stopping.
“As long as you obediently put down the gun, I’ll pretend nothing happened, you’ll still be my little pet, and I’ll give you food every day.”
Su Qinghan’s hand slowly caressed the back of Xiao Mumu’s hand, holding her hand that was holding the gun, wanting to take the gun back.
“No!”
“What?” Su Qinghan raised an eyebrow slightly, her sharp eyes looking directly at Xiao Mumu, seemingly somewhat surprised.
“I don’t want to be your pet, I’m a person, a living person, I’m not some pet that comes when beckoned and goes when dismissed!”
Tears blurred Xiao Mumu’s eyes; upon feeling Su Qinghan about to take the gun from her hand, she finally steeled her heart and pulled the trigger.
She closed her eyes, not daring to look at the bloody scene.
“How could this be......”
The imagined sound of a bullet piercing a skull did not come, not even the sound of a gunshot.
“No... bullets......”
“This time... I’m really done for......”
Xiao Mumu looked in horror at Su Qinghan, whose face was like frost, and subconsciously wanted to escape.
“Where do you think you’re going?”
