Chapter 112
Before returning to Hamel.
The Young Lady and I had come to a Pet Hotel located on the outskirts of the Capital City to pick up Gomtangi, whom we had left at the Animal Hotel.
I thought the concept of a Pet Hotel wouldn’t exist in Another World, but thanks to the keen merchants in the Empire who noticed that the trivial hobbies of nobles who loved luxury could turn into profit, there were more unique stores in the Capital City than I had expected.
Pet Hotel, for example.
Things like Pet Training Centers, which are considered leisure concepts in modern times, were not uncommon in Another World.
Perhaps because the world I was possessed into was a Romance Fantasy, the areas of dating and traveling were as well-developed as in my previous life.
Thanks to that, we were able to enjoy a comfortable Trip to the Capital without much difficulty when deciding to travel to the Capital City.
And so, here we are at the Pet Hotel.
Although they charge a somewhat shocking accommodation fee of 100 Gold per day, the service was remarkable enough for me to endure the painful expense and entrust Gomtangi to them.
In front of me, after settling the bill, stood Gomtangi wagging her tail. Perhaps upset from not seeing her master for a while, the look in the eyes of the pet making eye contact with me made me feel the expense was worth it.
-Gooooom!
“Did you enjoy it?”
-Gooooom!
Gomtangi, whom I hadn’t seen in a while, looked happy. Her fur was soft and well-maintained, her sharp fangs were neatly groomed, and even her sharp claws were tidily arranged, giving her a dignified appearance that erased the pain of my bitter expenditure.
Although it felt like something had changed while I hadn’t seen her.
Did she gain some weight?
Gomtangi, who had grown sturdier overall rather than sideways. I wondered if she had met a decent male here, but seeing the other Guest Dogs lower their tails and whimper when they looked at Gomtangi, I thought that wasn’t the case.
“Hey.”
Kyle, standing next to me, asked with a serious expression. Having come to see us off on his day off, Kyle frowned every time he looked at Gomtangi.
Was it because she was too cute? I thought so, but the doubt emanating from him corrected my delusion clouded by affection.
“This is a puppy…?”
“Yes.”
“In what way does this look like a puppy?”
Kyle voiced his doubt as he watched Gomtangi nibbling on the heads of other Guest Dogs like candy.
Asking me which puppy in the world plays like that, and whether the puppy I’m raising is licking Emergency Food Supplies as a joke.
-Goooom…
-Whimper… Whimper…
I shrugged my shoulders and responded to Kyle’s question with a counter-question.
“Don’t they look friendly?”
“That…?”
“Yes.”
Kyle, unable to understand Gomtangi’s charm, shook his head.
“Unbelievable.”
“Sure, our Gomtangi has bigger front paws and a larger face compared to other puppies, but isn’t she cute? The Young Lady likes her too.”
I looked at the Young Lady, who was stroking Gomtangi’s head beside me, and asked.
“Hmm?”
Upon hearing a conversation about herself, the Young Lady tilted her head with a Question Mark above her head.
“Gomtangi is cute, right?”
“Hmm.”
The Young Lady nodded, giving an answer that added weight to my opinion, which had lost credibility.
“It looks like it would taste good when fully grown.”
“…Pardon?”
“You’re not raising it to eat?”
“I told you last time I wouldn’t eat her.”
“I thought you were lying.”
“I was being sincere.”
The Young Lady, having lost interest, gazed at Gomtangi’s plump Belly Fat with a look of regret before wheeling her Wheelchair beside me.
Kyle let out a sigh.
“This is concerning.”
“It’s fine.”
“It’s not about whether you’re fine; it’s about others being worried.”
“That’s fine too. Our Gomtangi doesn’t bite people.”
Kyle tilted his head and glanced at the Young Lady next to him as he spoke.
“I don’t think so.”
Before I knew it, Gomtangi had clamped her jaws on the Young Lady’s head. Kyle looked at the fierce Bloody Battle between the Young Lady and Gomtangi and shot me a doubtful look.
“Eeeek!!! Let go! I’m not food!”
-Gooooom!!!
“You’re spitting everywhere! Ricardo! She’s trying to eat me! Put chili sauce on her!”
I awkwardly smiled and gave Kyle an embarrassing excuse.
“Still, she’s kind.”
“…I’ll trust you on that.”
We exchanged awkward smiles and said our goodbyes. With a brief farewell to meet again in good health, our Trip to the Capital came to an end.
*
Inside the carriage returning to Hamel.
The Young Lady, watching Gomtangi’s plump rear wobble as she trotted along with the horses, marveled with a curious expression.
“Ricardo.”
“Yes.”
“She looks like a bear.”
“…Indeed.”
I thought she had just grown bigger since I hadn’t seen her in a while, but…
As time passed, the thought that I’d gradually get used to it began to falter.
Something…
-Gooooom!
made me think I had picked up something very strange.
Those sharp front paws that looked like they could tear a person apart, even after being groomed.
The seasoned way she licked her lips while watching the horses run.
And the words spoken by the staff at the Pet Hotel.
-I’m really sorry, Gomtangi’s owner… What breed is Gomtangi?
-Why do you ask?
-We won’t be accepting this breed again. Gomtangi seems more suited for the Wild than a Pet Hotel.
-Are you telling me to abandon her?
-No…! That’s not what I meant, it’s just… she seems more fitting for the mountains.
At the time, I felt a bit offended, but seeing her running like that now, I began to understand the staff’s tired face. I should’ve tipped them before leaving.
An unyielding stamina that doesn’t tire even after walks.
Even to my affection-clouded eyes, Gomtangi didn’t seem like a puppy. Considering she still had a growth period left, it seemed like she’d grow three times bigger than now. If she grew any larger, just as the staff said, I’d have to give up on the idea of raising her indoors.
With a trembling Voice, I shyly asked the Young Lady, who was fighting off drowsiness.
“Young Lady. Don’t you think Gomtangi… isn’t a puppy? Maybe she inherited some luxurious bloodline…”
The Young Lady responded with an expression of certainty, as if it were obvious.
“She’s a bear.”
“…”
“I told you I was right.”
“…Still, she’s cute, isn’t she? That’s fine, right?”
The Young Lady shook her head Firmly and replied decisively.
“She looks like a bear.”
“Not cute at all?”
“No. She looks delicious.”
Well, that’s a relief.
Looking delicious is a form of Praise, after all. With the hope that she’d live a long and healthy life, I offered Gomtangi a word of encouragement.
“Just grow up healthy. I won’t let you go hungry, so don’t bite people.”
Had an hour passed as we talked about Gomtangi?
As the carriage climbed the Steep Slope, the Young Lady’s head began bouncing around like a Bouncy Ball due to the vibration of the carriage.
“Huh…! Gravity…!”
“Heeeek!! It’s rejecting me!”
“The world is spinning… Huh!”
The Young Lady’s head, displaying dazzling movements, bounced around like a Billiard Ball on a Pool Table. Worried that she might get motion sickness, I quietly moved closer to her and offered my shoulder.
The Young Lady, leaning her head on my shoulder, looked up at me with a satisfied smile.
“Mmm… Soft.”
“This is an expensive shoulder. Please use it sparingly.”
“Mhm. Since it’s an expensive shoulder, only I should use it.”
The Young Lady gave a mischievous smile and chuckled bashfully.
That kind of smile is unfair.
Holding my breath, I blushed at the faint sound of the Young Lady’s breathing against my Nape. And the glimpse of her Abyssal Cleavage seemed to make my heart race wildly.
This is the joy of being the Villainess’s Butler.
With a smile of satisfaction from the Employee Benefits, I cheerfully headed toward Hamel.
As the sun set and Darkness approached, the familiar sight of an estate came into view in the distance.
Not the estate that once seemed haunted by a Ghost.
But our newly Remodeled Estate.
The Young Lady, who had slowly opened her eyes, widened them as she saw the newly transformed estate.
“Woooow! Ricardo!”
The Young Lady, shaking off her drowsiness, radiated excitement. Pointing at the estate, now painted with a Pink Tint, she puffed out her cheeks and exclaimed in an enthusiastic voice.
“It looks like meat!”
“What kind of comparison is that?”
“It’s a compliment. It’s really pretty.”
“Is that so? I put a lot of effort into it this time, so I’m glad you think it’s pretty.”
Seeing the Young Lady’s satisfied smile as she admired the estate we had spent a significant amount of money Remodeling, I was relieved that we hadn’t just patched up the broken walls.
The walls of the estate, which had been damaged by Fairy Unit 1, were rounded with Delicate Patterns, and the Vines covering the walls were painted in a Pink Tint.
The Young Lady’s Estate, once called Hamel’s Eyesore, had been transformed into something new.
“Do you like it?”
“Yes, I love it!”
I’m glad the Young Lady likes it.
With a heart full of Anticipation, I got off the carriage. Stretching, I took a deep breath of the Nostalgic Air of Hamel.
The smell of Manure lingered.
The refreshing air of Hamel felt vivid.
Even though it was air I could experience in the Capital City, the familiar air of home after a long time felt different.
“Yaaawn… Thank you for your hard work…. Cough… Cough…”
Brr… It’s cold.
It must be winter.
