Starting from the Planetary Governor - Chapter 5

Chapter 5: Green-Skin Beast

Just how troublesome are the green-skin beasts, known as the cancer of the universe?

Today, Gu Hang saw it with his own eyes.

As the battle drew to a close, he personally led the remaining troops onto the battlefield, intending to end the fight and experience the smell of war up close.

It was then that he heard a loud beastly roar, akin to that of a bear.

Next, a mutated giant, at least 2.2 meters tall, muscular and robust, with dark green skin, appeared before him.

This creature was nearly naked, with only a few rags hanging from its body, clearly having outgrown its original clothing due to its sudden increase in size.

Its skin was dark green and appeared extremely rough.

The gun in its hand had a wild design, with most parts looking quite haphazard.

In a normal person’s hands, it would resemble a handheld cannon or rocket launcher, but in this creature’s hands, it looked like a normal shotgun, which it could even wield single-handedly.

Upon its appearance, it immediately caught the attention of the surrounding soldiers.

The servant soldiers aimed their G7 ‘Striker’ rifles at it and pulled the triggers, unleashing a ferocious barrage of automatic rifle fire.

However, an astonishing scene unfolded: the dark green mutated giant, despite taking numerous shots, seemed completely unfazed!

In that instant, at least a dozen rifles were firing at it. It didn’t fall, and the soldiers did not let go of the triggers, each pouring a full magazine into it.

Given its large size and lack of erratic movement, most of the bullets hit the target.

Normally, unless it was truly made of iron, any flesh would have been shredded by such firepower.

But it wasn’t.

The creature stood there unharmed.

Some bullets were deflected, some lost all momentum and fell off, and some embedded themselves in its skin and muscles but couldn’t penetrate deeply…

Blood flowed, but it was far from a crippling injury.

Kaga, who had just completed his transformation, snapped out of his initial bewilderment.

He retained some self-awareness and knew that even though he had transformed and become stronger, his primary goal was still to escape as quickly as possible.

So, he bolted towards the edge of the camp.

His larger, more powerful body did not make him clumsy; instead, it made him faster and more agile.

Once he started moving, the servant soldiers’ accuracy plummeted.

If he had just focused on running, he might have had a chance to escape.

But during this process, he kept getting distracted by the nearby servant soldiers, unable to resist the urge to attack them.

On one hand, the constant hits made him irritable—the bullets from the ‘Striker’ rifles weren’t lethal but they still caused pain; on the other hand, the effects of the potion quickly reached his brain, urging him to go on a bloodthirsty rampage.

Finally, he couldn’t hold back any longer.

He continued running, albeit at a slightly slower pace.

Turning his head, he aimed the crude and rugged gun in his hand at one of the servant soldiers and pulled the trigger.

Thick black smoke billowed from the muzzle, and the cluster of buckshot blasted the upper half of the servant soldier into nothingness.

Blood and flesh splattered everywhere, with much of it even spraying onto Kaga himself.

Bathed in fresh blood, the green-skin beast became even more ferocious.

He pulled the bolt and fired another shot, killing another servant soldier in a gruesome manner.

Upon attempting to fire again, the gun didn’t discharge.

The shotgun he wielded only had two shells.

Instinctively, Kaga reached into his pocket, seemingly to reload, but found nothing. His clothes had been shredded, let alone any carried ammunition.

He discarded the wild-looking shotgun and lunged directly at the third soldier.

The targeted servant soldier raised his gun and started shooting while retreating, but before he could fire many rounds, the incredibly fast green-skin beast had already closed the distance. With a swift grab, Kaga lifted the soldier and then brutally tore him in half.

Holding the corpse above his head, blood poured down over him, filling Kaga with a sense of exhilaration. He even felt his already invincible body becoming even stronger.

The last shreds of his rationality told him that this was the potion further unlocking his body’s potential, which might not be a good thing. But that small bit of concern and struggle was quickly drowned by an overwhelming desire for battle.

He only wanted to kill more.
A grenade was thrown at his feet and exploded, but Kaga had already rolled away before it went off.

A machine gunner set up a position a hundred meters away, and a barrage of bullets roared toward him.

At this distance, the combat instincts imprinted in the potion and coursing through Kaga’s blood allowed him to dodge most of the bullets with serpentine movements while maintaining his charge.

At this moment, his eyes were blood-red, intent on tearing the machine gunner apart as well.

But suddenly he stumbled, and his entire body crashed to the ground due to inertia.

He couldn’t feel his left leg, as if it had been severed.

Looking down, he saw his left leg still attached and mostly unharmed. Yet he couldn’t control it at all, as if it was no longer part of his body.

Using his hands and his remaining leg, he struggled to prop himself up.

Raising his head, he saw a man dressed in luxurious attire approaching from behind the machine gunner, flanked by several marines.

He opened his mouth, trying to roar, but a stream of machine gun bullets struck him, stifling his roar.

Even the squad machine gun’s continuous fire, far more powerful than the ‘Striker’ rifles, couldn’t quickly bring him down.

However, the ‘Eagle’ electromagnetic rifles in the marines’ hands were on a different level altogether.

The electromagnetically accelerated metal spikes pierced his skin and muscle defenses.

After four marines emptied their magazines, Kaga was riddled with holes like a beehive.

But he wasn’t dead yet; he still had a breath left, and the holes in his body were slowly beginning to heal.

Gu Hang casually walked forward. “So this is Kaga? The leader of the Captors? The ability to transform a human completely… the green-skin technology is indeed quite outrageous.”

He didn’t particularly care about Kaga as an individual; it was the state Kaga exhibited after his mutation that was concerning.

Kaga could no longer speak, only producing meaningless growls from his throat.

Gu Hang couldn’t be bothered to say more. He waved his hand, and the soldiers behind him took over the cleanup.

A series of metal spikes fired from the electromagnetic rifles turned the green-skin beast’s head into a mess of flesh.

Dealing with a green-skin was a troublesome affair.

Killing it was just the beginning; every place its blood had touched, every spot its body had occupied, had to be scorched with high-temperature flames.

Otherwise, it wouldn’t be long before a bunch of mushrooms grew there, turning into small green-skin monsters.

First, there would be Pygmies, then Goblins, and finally Orcs…

Although this green-skin beast was likely a sudden mutation of the Captors’ leader, who knew if similar situations could occur elsewhere?

In any case, the battle was over, and there was plenty of time to clean up the battlefield.

Gu Hang also needed to tally his gains.

[Resounding Victory, gained 19 points of Favors]

[Losses: 9, Eliminated: 146, Captured: 11]

[1st Servant Light Infantry Battalion: Losses: 9, Eliminated: 105]
