Felyn felt like he was in serious danger right now.
His consciousness was slowly waking up, but his body was still completely immobile.
The air was thick with dampness, and Felyn’s head felt heavy and muddled.
He even began seeing a life-flashing-before-his-eyes montage in his mind.
Viloti, Adelina, Daiyi, that idol, the dragon girl, the princess, the witch—all of their faces kept flashing through his mind.
What was most terrifying was… it felt like he had already married all of them.
Just the thought of having to face these problem girls every morning when he opened his eyes made Felyn snap awake in terror.
He gasped for breath, clutching his chest as he sat up.
Light from a crystal filtered through the mist, weaving a gauzy veil in the air.
A stream wound its way from a moss-covered cliff in the distance, catching the light in tiny rippling sparkles.
Who would’ve thought there’d be scenery like this in a dungeon?
“You got lucky—teleported to the same place as me,” came a flat, emotionless voice from behind.
Felyn turned to see Bernice standing on a massive boulder.
Completely unlike his own bedraggled state, Bernice looked as though nothing had happened at all.
“What’s going on now?”
“Hubert’s a space demon. After taking a hit from my divine spell, he released his origin magic—which randomly teleports people to various parts of the dungeon.”
“Doesn’t sound all that useful.”
“You’re wrong. His origin magic lasts for four hours. As long as he’s alive, we’ll keep getting randomly teleported. Next time, you might end up all alone. And he’ll randomly appear beside each person—if you’re alone, he’ll kill you.”
“Well, I’m screwed then.”
Felyn raised his hand in mock surrender.
Out of everyone, he was the weakest. If the demon wasn’t going to kill him, who else?
“But this isn’t the deep zone of the dungeon, is it? Why would there be a high-tier magical beast like a demon here?”
Bernice fell silent.
Ever since they’d entered the dungeon, she had sensed two large, powerful groups moving nearby.
She had a good idea why.
Viloti, Adelina, and Daiyi—the people those three noble girls sent were so strong, they’d actually awakened the demon.
Not that it was anyone’s fault. The three of them didn’t even know about each other’s plans.
Besides, now wasn’t the time to assign blame. Felyn might really become a target for that demon.
“Got any last words?”
Bernice walked over to Felyn, crouching beside his face.
“Already talking about last words? Not gonna fight back a little?” Felyn was still leaning against the rock, his body unable to handle the aftereffects of the origin magic.
“If you stay with me, no problem. If I kill that demon and stop the magic, no problem. But if neither of those things happen—then you’ve got a problem.”
“Sounds like I really do need to leave a final message.”
Felyn opened his eyes and looked at the masked girl. Something like this… he might as well say it now, right?
“There’s something I’ve been dying to say.”
“Go on.”
“Bernice, you look really cute without those bra pads.”
?!
Behind the mask, her usually cold eyes widened in an instant. The spell-gun in her hand almost slipped from her fingers.
Bernice’s body froze like she’d been struck by lightning.
The tips of her ears turned visibly red, the blush creeping all the way down her neck.
“You… you pervert…”
Her voice turned sharp, losing all of its usual mechanical calm.
Even her armor began to clink softly as her body trembled.
“You damn pervert!”
Felyn reveled in the insult. It was like standing at the edge of a cliff with arms outstretched, letting the mountain wind rush past.
All he did was speak his mind.
“When did you find out?”
“You mean your identity? Or the bra pads?”
“Of course my identity! And stop bringing up the bra pads!”
She slowly removed her mask, revealing a familiar face. Her short hair, streaked in black and red, was a bit messy, and her eyes still held a trace of flustered anger.
She pressed her lips together, trying her best to maintain the last shred of dignity.
“I knew when we registered as a team.”
“Why? I thought I played the part pretty well.”
“It was your perfume. You use Moonlight Dew,” Felyn said with a smile. “That scent has a sharp metallic freshness to it—very rare in Seiwa. And that perfume’s exclusively supplied by the Church. Regular people can’t even get it.”
Bernice froze. She hadn’t expected to be exposed to such a small detail.
“You remembered how I smell… You really are a pervert.”
Had he… been paying attention to me all along?
The thought flashed through her mind, making her heart skip a beat.
Bernice rarely interacted with men. She didn’t have any friends either—most of her time was spent training or fighting.
So this kind of attention from the opposite sex was completely foreign to her.
It was only for the mission to lure in Felyn that she had experienced what a normal girl’s life was supposed to be like.
Shopping with Felyn. Cooking for him. Going to school with him.
Getting anxious over schoolwork, occasionally chatting with the boy she liked, talking to friends about romance troubles.
So this is what a normal girl’s life feels like.
Bernice had to admit, she had truly enjoyed that fake school life.
She turned to glance at Felyn. Just as she was about to say something, she suddenly felt a surge of magic from within her body.
“Felyn… I think I’m about to get teleported.”
Felyn saw that a deep blue magical light had already engulfed most of Bernice’s body.
“If you die, I’ll kill him for you.”
“You’re not even considering that I might kill him myself?”
As the magic completely covered her, Bernice finally gave him a faint smile.
Then, her figure dissolved into the blue glow, melting into the air like mist.
Silence fell once more.
Felyn clutched his chest and slowly got to his feet. He was feeling much better now.
Tiny blue flowers bloomed by the stream, swaying gently with the mist.
In the distance, the mountains looked like a painting touched by the hands of a god.
Going by usual fantasy logic, this was the kind of place where some hidden master would show up. Maybe there’d even be a forbidden tome.
Maybe this would be his training ground, where he could find a spring to fully recover—then he could go all out grinding and leveling up.
By the time he left this place, he’d be the strongest in the world.
Just as Felyn was lost in his fantasy, a rift tore open in the space before him.
Was it that demon again?
Felyn held his breath and stared hard at the distortion in space.
A pink silhouette tumbled out of the rift.
It was Viloti.
She was falling from midair.
Felyn gritted his teeth and forced himself up, ignoring the pain in his body. In one swift motion, he dashed forward.
“Careful!”
He opened his arms and caught the falling Viloti squarely in his chest.
She trembled slightly in his embrace, her soft body pressing into him.
Her long hair spilled over his shoulder, carrying a faint fragrance.
“Felyn…”
Viloti looked up, her amber eyes still full of fear. But the moment she saw him, they softened immediately.
The two of them were so close, they could hear each other’s heartbeats. A flush began to bloom across Viloti’s cheeks.
“Are you alright?”
Viloti curled into his arms, burying her head against his chest.
Her fingers clutched tightly at his clothes, like she was afraid he might disappear at any moment.
But Felyn gently set her down, stepping back to put some space between them.
Viloti sat blankly on the ground, seeming to still savor the warmth of his embrace.
Silence fell between them once more.
“Are you hurt anywhere?”
Viloti shook her head, but her eyes stayed fixed on his chest.
I want… to feel it again…
