Chapter 47

Two days had passed since the wish was made.

Felyn was beginning to feel that the Water Goddess Eryth might not be all that reliable after all.

He was still being tormented by the various noble young ladies.

Viloti still waited for him at the school gates every morning like clockwork.

Adelina hadn’t summoned Felyn to Lanche Academy as he had expected. On the contrary, she kept coming to St. Andros Academy during service hours.

Bernice appeared from time to time—it seemed she still hadn’t given up.

And every night, Daiyi continued her teasing with that calm, rational face, probing Felyn about amusing little stories between him and his clients with bizarre questions.

In short, Felyn spent his days dealing with all kinds of beautiful girls.

St. Andros Academy, Student Council Office.

Felyn stood outside the door, taking a few deep breaths.

After making sure his smile reflected in the window was absolutely perfect, he patted his cheeks and pushed the door open.

Time to start work.

The scent of black tea washed over him, and the first thing he saw was the long, wavy hair the color of rose tea.

Like an elven queen, Adelina held a file in her hands, her expression serious as she processed paperwork in her domain.

Her eyes lifted from the file and fell on Felyn—like ice in August left under the sun, her expression quickly melted into a smile that couldn’t be hidden in her eyes.

“Felyn! You’re here.”

Adelina realized she had sounded a bit too happy. She coughed lightly and composed herself.

Her gaze drifted to Felyn’s hands.

They had shaken hands last time.

She had shaken hands with a man.

Although it was to fulfill Felyn’s wish, she didn’t seem to dislike it at all.

Linda and the other student council members were out conducting student survey questionnaires. They were collecting opinions on the most anticipated event.

That left only Adelina and Felyn in the office. Felyn couldn’t help but suspect that this seemingly gentle lady had deliberately sent them all away.

“Good afternoon, Lady Adelina.”

Felyn, out of habit, went to brew some black tea, only to find it had already been prepared.

Not just the tea—documents had been organized, the place cleaned, and all the materials that needed writing were already done.

Who did this?! Who stole my job?!

Felyn noticed Adelina rubbing her wrist, which looked a little sore.

Was it her? But why? Felyn couldn’t make sense of it.

She was paying him, yet she did all the work, and he was just here to inspect it?

What sort of upside-down world was this?

“Looks like I don’t have much to do.”

Adelina said nothing, only continued to massage her wrist.

“Lady Adelina, would you like me to rub your hand? I can give your shoulders a massage too.”

“Mm!”

Her usually tight lips relaxed slightly, forming a smile of victory.

Her hands rested on the table, waiting for Felyn to pick them up. Not putting them directly on his lap was the last shred of a girl’s pride.

Felyn treated her hand like a treasure from a museum, placing it gently on his lap.

He massaged softly, working out the tension in Adelina’s delicate wrist.

“Lady Adelina, try clenching your fist.”

Adelina obediently closed her hand into a fist, letting Felyn wrap his hands around it.

As he massaged her, Felyn suddenly remembered what she had said the night before: “Felyn, your hands are so small.”

Even though he knew she had been talking about his hands, it still got under his skin.

He looked at his hands. Were they really that small?

Putting his manly pride on the line, Felyn wrapped both his hands firmly around Adelina’s tiny fist.

He clutched the softness in his palms, looking at her with a touch of pride.

Small, huh?!

“Felyn, that hurts…”

“I’m so sorry, Lady Adelina!” Felyn immediately let go and started gently massaging her again. “I got carried away and didn’t notice. I promise it won’t happen again!”

Adelina massaged her own wrist but didn’t blame him.

“It’s alright. Don’t worry—I’m just a bit sensitive to pain.”

Felyn lowered his head like a scolded child.

He had hurt his client over something as ridiculous as pride.

Wasn’t a man’s pride just propped up by money anyway?

Now that he thought about it, lately he’d been feeling all sorts of strange emotions at work—emotions that never used to be there.

Had he let his guard down after spending so much time around these noble girls?

Seeing Felyn’s repentant expression, Adelina couldn’t help but cover her mouth and giggle.

He only hurt me a little—no need to look so serious about it. How cute~

Her hand reached out to Felyn’s head almost involuntarily.

She gently stroked the tips of his hair.

The boy under her hand didn’t resist; instead, he looked up at her with wide, eager eyes.

Like a puppy just born, whimpering while rolling over and exposing its belly for affection.

Oh no. What is this feeling? I can’t stop.

Touch touch touch touch touch.

Adelina was thoroughly enjoying herself.

She didn’t even realize she had been petting him for a full five minutes.

“Ahem, Felyn, your hair was a little messy. I was just helping you tidy it up.”

“So that’s what it was—thank you, Lady Adelina.”

Watching Felyn accept her random excuse so seriously, Adelina’s eyes curled into crescent moons.

In her heart, four words surfaced:

He. Is. Too. Cute.

“The tasks for today are done. I have time to help you with your studies.”

Adelina cleared the documents from her desk, making space for Felyn’s textbooks.

Felyn found it a bit odd that someone would pay him to tutor him, but he didn’t say anything. Maybe Adelina wanted to become a teacher and was using him for practice.

Besides, he’d already taken advantage of her—if he said something like “It’s not like I want to study, it’s the client forcing me,” that would just be disgusting. Total pretender.

With a grateful heart, Felyn accepted Adelina’s tutoring.

Time passed quickly.

Before he knew it, it was 9:50 PM.

Felyn glanced at the clock. The other student council members still hadn’t returned. Had Adelina sent them abroad to conduct surveys or something?

“Lady Adelina, it’s getting late. How about we stop here for today? I’ll go brew you some tea.”

“Eh?”

Adelina looked up at the clock. Has time really flown by so fast?

She watched Felyn’s back as he walked away, her feet swinging in dissatisfaction.

“This weekend, do you have any plans? Not that I want you to work overtime or anything—it’s just that I happen to know a really good restaurant. And the discount coupon’s about to expire.”

Yeah right, “just happen to.” Felyn silently snarked.

“This weekend, huh? I think I’ll have to make a trip to the dungeon.”

“The dungeon? Haven’t you already gathered enough magic crystals?”

Felyn sheepishly pulled out a test paper—13 points.

This wasn’t really his fault. The textbook for the course Magical Beast Behavior Analysis barely covered anything useful.

And he simply couldn’t make sense of it. Without having witnessed it firsthand, he couldn’t even imagine how it worked.

The course was normally taught in years 5 through 8, with the school organizing trips to the dungeon for live observation. The instructors would teach on-site, using both the textbook and real-life encounters to help students understand.

Unfortunately, that part of Felyn’s memory was missing. And while he had transmigrated into a game world, the magical beasts described in the course never appeared in the actual game.

And this world’s communication sigils couldn’t record video—only seeing it in person would help him make sense of what was in the book.

Thinking of Felyn’s background, Adelina quickly pieced things together.

During the age when students went on dungeon field trips, this wealthy young master had probably been too busy playing around to attend school.

And by the time he was finally motivated to study, his family was already gone.

“I’m sorry, Lady Adelina, for making a fool of myself.”

Felyn tucked the test paper back into his bag.

“Want me to come with you to the dungeon?”

“No need, Lady Adelina. I can just go to the dungeon gate, find a party to join, and observe the magical beasts from the back of the group.”

In her mind, Adelina suddenly pictured a scene:

A helpless Felyn joining some trashy makeshift party, falling into trap after trap the moment they entered the dungeon, running into terrifying beasts.

Then he’d shout, “Adelina, I want to love you again in my next life!” before being swallowed whole.

No way!

Determination flared in Adelina’s eyes—the unshakable will of the heir to House Claude.

While Felyn was brewing tea, she quickly took out her communication sigil.

In no time, nearly every bodyguard of House Claude had received a message.

“Lady Adelina, what’s got you smiling so much?”

Felyn returned with the tea, noticing the radiant joy on her face as she looked at the sigil.

“I just remembered something happy.”
