Chapter 19

Nine o’clock in the evening.

Like most nobles, Adelina left the banquet hall surrounded by members of her family.

“Lady Adelina, may we depart now?”

Adelina climbed into the carriage, casting one last glance back at Silvermoon Valley.

Moonlight spilled across the towering spires of Silvermoon Valley, the glass curtain walls reflecting a soft glow, as if veiled in a hazy layer of silver gauze.

The night breeze gently stirred, swaying tree shadows danced on the ground, and the fountain in the distance still shimmered with starlight under the moon.

“In the end, that guy Felyn didn’t ask for a single thing.”

Adelina murmured in the carriage.

She couldn’t help but feel like she owed him a lot.

Should she reward him with money?

At the very least, not this time. Not tonight. This isn’t a transaction.

Adelina twirled a lock of her hair, secretly thinking.

He wants to get into the Royal Capital Academy, right?

Then let this young lady with excellent character and academic performance, help him with his study.

Have him come to her house, and she’ll properly teach him.

Or maybe she could go to his place.

Adelina quickly shook her head.

What was she doing, entertaining thoughts about wanting to understand Felyn?

“Let’s go,” Adelina told the driver.

The carriage slowly pulled away. The outline of Silvermoon Valley blurred in her view.

Eventually, it disappeared into the star-strewn night.

Felyn also gave one last glance at the castle.

Chances were, he’d never set foot in a place like this again.

A castle full of maids... it was just too amazing!

Two moons, one large and one small, hung in the sky, casting a misty blend of silver-white and pale blue light.

Felyn walked ahead, pulling Daiyi’s suitcase behind him.

Unlike the other young ladies, Daiyi had no guards, no servants by her side.

“Come to think of it, Miss Daiyi, why did you suddenly decide that we need to act like a couple in private too?”

Daiyi froze for a second.

"Well... uh..."

She opened her mouth to speak, but found herself stammering. Then she pretended to tidy her skirt to hide her awkwardness.

“It’s actually because of my father...”

She turned her head away, and under her hair, the flush on her cheeks was faintly visible.

“My father thought I was lying. So he said he’d send someone to see if we’re really a couple.”

“Huh? Why didn’t you tell me that earlier?”

Now this was trouble.

Who knew even this kind of job required a test?

“I saw how happy you were, getting to pretend to be my boyfriend, so I couldn’t bear to shatter your dream,” Daiyi still didn’t dare meet Felyn’s gaze.

Yeah right! You were just too embarrassed to say anything!

“Miss Daiyi, just to be safe, you didn’t say anything weird to your father about us, did you?”

“Eh?”

Daiyi processed the question, blinking her eyes.

“You mean... me telling my father that I’m pregnant?”

“Pregnant?!”

This Daiyi really knows how to fan the flames!

She must be trying to make sure there’s nothing left of him to bury.

Seeing Felyn’s exaggerated reaction, Daiyi let out a sudden giggle.

“How could I say something like that? You’re being way too dramatic.”

She walked up beside Felyn, wearing a mischievous smile.

“I was just thinking. Living with a beautiful girl like me, I doubt you’ll be able to restrain yourself. But since I’m not as strong as you, I won’t be able to stop your beastly urges. Still, pregnancy is absolutely not allowed.”

“I told you I’m not that kind of person!”

Felyn felt numb. This young lady was seriously mean-spirited.

She flipped her hair over her shoulder, and a faint rose fragrance brushed past his nose.

Daiyi walked ahead of Felyn, her smug expression like a little fox delighted with its prank.

Mister District.

“It’s a bit bigger than I imagined. I’m a little surprised.”

Daiyi stood in front of Felyn’s house and said so.

It was unclear whether she was being polite, or if in her mind she’d thought he lived in a 5-square-meter birdcage. Either way, the two-story house with a small courtyard—purchased after selling off all his family’s assets—wasn’t really all that big.

“Excuse me.”

Daiyi called out toward the empty house.

Felyn got her room ready.

“Sorry, my place isn’t very fancy.”

“I’m the one imposing. And I actually like your home.”

She wasn’t lying.

Curiously, she wandered around.

On the windowsill were a few blooming green plants.

The bookshelf, though sparsely filled, was neatly arranged.

Even the coasters on the coffee table looked thoughtfully selected.

It was a simple and ordinary home, but it showed respect and affection for life.

“Are there any places in this house I’m not allowed to go?”

“Eh? No. Why do you ask?”

Felyn paused and looked up from what he was doing.

“I’m afraid your house has a basement, and you’ll lock me in there forever. Or maybe there are some rooms hiding girls.” Daiyi said frightening things with a completely deadpan face.

“Don’t say such messed-up stuff!”

Felyn poked his head out of the room in protest.

She was the guest, yet here she was saying awful things.

The bedroom wasn’t big, but it was very clean.

The sheets and bedding had all been freshly changed.

“By the way, now that I’m staying at your place and receiving your services 24/7, we’ll have to renegotiate my payment.”

Daiyi leaned her cheek against one hand, calculating the numbers.

“Hahaha, what’s the point of being so precise? Our relationship isn’t something money can measure. But hey, how about quadruple pay, plus food expenses, transportation, heat allowance, year-end bonus, full attendance bonus, ten days of paid leave, and annual checkups?”

Felyn casually voiced his true thoughts with a light-hearted look.

Daiyi listened to his long list in silence. Then, with her slender fingers, she gently tugged down the strap of her dress, revealing a patch of snowy white shoulder.

Her long black hair slid down her shoulder, making that small patch of skin look even more radiant.

“Wait! I know that was a bit much, but we can talk it out! No need to pay with your body...”

Daiyi paused, a flicker of confusion passing through her dark green eyes. Then she seemed to realize something.

Her delicate face remained expressionless, but a hint of mockery glinted in her eyes.

“What are you thinking?” she said blandly. “I’m just taking off this necklace.”

She gently pulled down the strap, revealing a thin necklace.

Felyn let out an awkward chuckle, catching the look she gave him—like she was looking at a complete idiot.

“I wouldn’t go so far as to support you with my body,” Daiyi said softly, the corners of her lips lifting slightly. It was hard to tell whether it was a smile or a sneer.

“But you—are you really that interested in my body?”

She pointed to her own cheek.

“Want me to say something for fun? Should I call you big brother? Or do you want to hear something else?”

“That won’t be necessary.”

Having a stunning girl in the house, one who teases him constantly—

The scary thing is, if he even lets down his guard a little, she’ll win.

Then she’d definitely flash that smug look, and humiliate him to no end!

“This necklace should cover those fees you mentioned for several months.”

Felyn accepted the valuable necklace, still faintly warm from Daiyi’s skin.

“Much appreciated, boss!”

All a boss’s faults can be forgiven with money.

Woohoo!

“I’m going to shower now. There aren’t weird holes in the bathroom walls, right?”

“Of course not!”

This young lady has definitely been secretly reading pronogharphic novels at middle of night. How else would she know this stuff?

Felyn sat alone at the dining table, gazing at the things in his home that now felt like they didn’t belong to him.

Tonight had been exhausting.

In every sense of the word.

Letting a client move into his home—he wasn’t even sure if this was the right choice.

Ever since ending the contract with Viloti, Felyn had been thinking more carefully about every step he took.

He hadn’t taken on any new clients since.

Once the current contracts ended, he planned to leave the industry for good.

Go to the Royal Capital Academy and learn some divine magic. Then find a small village where no one knew him, spend his days chopping wood, gathering herbs, and hunting monsters with divine spells.

And then hire ten maids.

Just one wall away.

Steam filled the bathroom, laced with a girlish scent.

Daiyi stood in the water, her soaked hair clinging limply to her face.

A swirl of tangled voices filled her mind, leaving her a little unsteady on her feet.

She thought of the look in her family’s eyes when she’d returned home.

Her lips, still beaded with water, parted slightly as if to sigh.

But in the end, she didn’t.

She must not sigh.

She told herself this, deep in her heart.
