Freshman “Goddess” Rankings.
“7000? Why is she rising so fast? She doesn’t even have a name!”
In what looked like an office room, a petite girl had sunk into a sofa chair.
Her eyes were glued to her phone screen, her face full of unwillingness and jealousy.
“Tingting, no need to rush.” Sitting beside her, the person was far more muscular than the frail girl in the chair—stronger than most boys, clearly someone who had trained.
“I’ve already sent someone to investigate. We’ll definitely find out more about her.”
“Mm, thank you, Brother Zhi~” Upon hearing exactly what she wanted to hear, Chen Tingting immediately switched to a flirtatious tone—something that didn’t quite match her innocent-looking face.
“It’s nothing. Just a girl, easy to deal with.”
“Cough cough—but easy or not, it still takes time. I had to call so many people. I’m exhausted…” Shi Lezhi’s gaze shifted to Chen Tingting.
Chen Tingting noticed. She wasn’t stupid. A favor done had to be repaid.
“You’ve worked hard. I just happen to be free this weekend. Want to go out together?”
“Sure,” Shi Lezhi replied with a smile.
...
...
Su Yun arrived at the arts building by the edge of the track and field, putting her mask and hat back on.
Since she was moving, she had to return to the dorm. Though it was stifling, there was no other choice.
She walked with light steps, heading back to the dorm from the women’s restroom.
It was already 7:00 PM, and there wasn’t much to do tonight.
After attending three classes, everyone was completely worn out. At this point, her roommates were quietly sitting at their desks, eating takeout and scrolling through videos.
“Oh hey, here to move?” One of the roommates teased when she saw Su Yun come in.
“Our dorm will only have five people from now on. We might be the first five-person dorm in the whole class.”
“You’ll be down to four once If you move out,” Su Yun replied flatly, then walked over to her desk and picked up the few bags she had packed the day before.
There were six burlap sacks. Her mom had stuffed them with things before she came to school, afraid she might need them.
The result was that 80% of the stuff hadn’t been used—just piled there.
Back when school started, it took three senior girls and one senior guy to help her barely get it all to the dorm, and organizing it had taken forever.
Still, Su Yun didn’t blame her mom for it.
She grabbed three bags and was ready to go.
Each bag was nearly as tall as a person, yet Su Yun lifted two with her right hand like they were filled with cotton.
Thud. Just as Su Yun picked them up, a black umbrella dropped to the floor.
It had fallen from her backpack—she hadn’t secured it well.
Seeing what happened, Su Yun bent down, tossed the umbrella into the largest sack, and zipped it up tight.
“Bro, that's your umbrella? Is it new?” Zhang Deyi, who had been sneaking glances from the side, couldn’t help but ask when he saw the black umbrella.
“I’ve been using it since the start of the semester.”
“Oh, oh.” Zhang Deyi nodded in a daze.
That umbrella was completely black, without any decorative patterns.
Zhang Deyi remembered his goddess used the same kind of umbrella. He just hadn’t expected Su Yun to use one too.
Then again, lots of people could own the same umbrella.
Zhang Deyi didn’t ask anything more. When Su Yun was heading out, he just said, “Later, big bro.”
The other roommates were curious why Zhang Deyi suddenly started calling Su Yun “big bro.” Someone even asked him about it.
“Since Brother Yun’s moving out, he’s freed up a spot for us. Isn’t that worthy of a ‘big bro’ title?”
“I see. Yeah, that makes sense,” the roommate responded, then went right back to playing on the computer like nothing happened.
...
With the first trip done, there were still three bags left in the dorm. Su Yun had to go back for round two.
Turns out, her roommates cared more than she thought. For this final trip, all five of them offered to help move things back to her new home.
Faced with that, Su Yun could only politely decline their kindness.
No choice—she was afraid of being found out.
After this move, she wouldn’t need to return to the dorm ever again.
...
The sky was dark. Su Yun had already walked to the residential area near the school, carrying the bags. It was separated from the school gate by a bridge and a street.
From the school gate, it looked like the whole area was packed with people, but around here, not a soul could be seen—not even someone from class.
Well, about a dozen meters ahead, there was still one person in sight.
Rustle rustle... Just as Su Yun took off her hat and was about to lift the bags again, she heard a slight noise from behind.
It sounded like something scraping against something else.
She turned around. A few lush, towering trees stood there.
Every ten meters along this road, there was a streetlight. These trees cast long shadows under the glow of the lights.
Was it just the wind?
But… it didn’t feel like the wind had touched her at all.
Su Yun didn’t overthink it. She just stared at the tree for several seconds, then picked up her bags and walked toward her front door.
Beep.
She gently placed the blue card on the door sensor, which let out a mechanical sound.
Su Yun used her foot to hold the door open, hurriedly grabbing her things and stepping inside.
Clunk...
The door slammed shut behind her.
Su Yun didn’t know why, but before she got into the elevator, she turned to look at the door again. Through the glass window, all she saw was darkness.
There was nothing there.
“...”
These three bags together weighed nearly a hundred pounds, yet inside the elevator, Su Yun held them like they were as light as paper.
One hand holding all three, she got out of the elevator and strolled calmly to her door.
Click.
The lights here were sound-activated. As Su Yun got close, they turned on, illuminating the dark corridor.
Unit 1101 was directly across from 1102, with each tenant occupying half the floor.
Su Yun glanced at the tightly closed door of 1102. The entryway was completely empty, and no light spilled from beneath the door. She wondered if anyone even lived there.
But the landlady had said this was the last available unit, so there had to be someone.
Maybe they just came back late.
Back inside, Su Yun pulled out towels, a toothbrush, and other daily essentials from her bags and neatly arranged them.
With a sweeping motion, she brushed her long hair, previously caught in her clothes, all behind her.
There were no roommates here, only her. It was incredibly quiet—no more worries.
Su Yun walked to the window and looked at the snack street near the school gate a few hundred meters away. The street was brightly lit, full of people still having dinner or out for a walk.
Compared to that, when she looked down at this building’s surroundings, there were only a few dim streetlights.
The noisy area was just behind this building, but Su Yun didn’t like noise. So she just stood there, zoning out for a long time.
“Time to shower.” She was reluctant to move, but upon seeing the white smudges on her coat—dust from rubbing against a wall in class—she figured she might as well clean up.
Before going to shower, she picked up her phone by the bed to check it.
(Qin Xue: (photo.jpg))
(This silly little sister)
(Doesn’t she look kind of cute like this?)
Qin Xue had sent a photo. In it, she was sitting on the edge of a bed, with Qin Yuanyuan beside her, happily eating a lollipop.
Qin Yuanyuan gripped the stick tightly with both hands, eyes fixed on the candy, clearly delighted by it.
(Me: Mm-hmm. Very cute.)
(Qin Xue: Why do I feel like you’re brushing me off?)
(You’re free tomorrow afternoon, right? Be sure to come early. I’ve told all five of them to wait for you.)
Maybe Qin Xue felt Su Yun’s reply was too dismissive, so she went straight to assigning her a task.
“Ugh...”
Was it too late to delete my message?
Su Yun felt a chill run down her spine. She stiffened, imagining a red apple floating over her head.
“...”
You demon.
Su Yun struggled a bit over text with Qin Xue, but in the end, she still had to go train tomorrow. Frustrated, she opened the wardrobe in her room.
Inside, there was a door that was the same color as the cabinet. Behind it was the bathroom and toilet.
Out of caution, Su Yun turned off all the lights in the room first.
She was the only one here. Using her crimson eyes, she scanned every corner, checking for any abnormal lights. Once she confirmed everything was safe, she turned the lights back on.
