Chapter 13

Wednesday was the same as Tuesday—only classes in the morning.

Normally on these two days, Su Yun would spend class time messing around on her phone, then take a nap after lunch, and basically waste half the day.

When she woke up in the evening, she’d feel dazed and muddled. Maybe it was regret over the past, or maybe the dorm was just too noisy, but Su Yun found herself wanting to take a walk alone on the track to clear her head.

Looking up from the track, the sky above had no stars.

She wondered what she was even living for.

Before she knew it, she was back in the dorm playing games, and the day had passed.

Day after day, just like that, life would be over.

That was how it was supposed to be.

“Go pick up my sister?”

After actually paying attention in her morning class, Su Yun had planned to head back to the dorm for a nap before going to work, but just as she finished packing up her bag and was about to leave, she saw a message from Qin Xue pop up on her phone.

She was asking her to go pick up Qin Yuanyuan.

At this point, Su Yun could be considered half of Qin Xue’s maid.

Wait—no... more like half a nanny.

She didn’t refuse and just looked at the message on her phone.

Qin Yuanyuan was a student from the School of Economics and Management, and her last class this morning was in the Bo Xue Building.

Su Yun was in room 505, and the girl was in room 205.

Just downstairs—it looked simple, but…

If she went to pick up that brat looking like this, the girl might scream on the spot. Then things would get messy again.

So Su Yun thought about it and decided to run upstairs first to avoid her classmates, and ducked into a girls’ restroom.

No other choice—school had just let out, there were people everywhere, no time to fuss over details.

After tidying up her hair, she stood there for two minutes before stepping back out.

Su Yun was actually worried Qin Yuanyuan had run off on her own. That would mean the mission failed.

She had to switch identities, after all, couldn’t be seen. It was a pain.

After a while, Su Yun followed the crowd to the second floor and spotted the “205” sign above a classroom.

There were still a lot of people coming out of that classroom. Looked like the teacher had dragged the lesson out.

Thank goodness. Qin Yuanyuan should still be inside.

Su Yun stood at a distance watching the classroom door, waiting for Qin Yuanyuan to come out.

People passing by also noticed the white-haired girl standing at the stairway. Their drowsiness from class was shaken off quite a bit, but they just glanced and moved on—no one stopped.

Su Yun watched and counted. Twenty-four girls, seventeen boys had come out already, and not a trace of Qin Yuanyuan.

Did I miss her?

No way.

I hadn’t seen a single girl shorter than the shoulders walk out.

Don’t tell me Qin Xue told Qin Yuanyuan it’d be me coming to pick her up, and the girl hid behind someone and snuck out?

Surely not.

Worried, Su Yun walked up to the doorway of classroom 205. She peeked in and saw a group of people crowded near the front.

Five girls had formed a circle, and something was sitting in the middle.

Still no sign of Qin Yuanyuan.

Su Yun double-checked the message Qin Xue sent—yep, this was the place. She took a breath and stepped into the classroom.

She wanted to ask those girls what Qin Yuanyuan was up to, though chances were slim they’d give her anything useful.

“Yuanyuan, come eat with us already, stop studying, I’ll teach you after lunch.” One of the girls, holding a book and looking gentle, tugged at the sleeve of the person in the middle.

“Yeah, yeah, food comes first! We’ll help you later.”

“But... my sister said she’s picking me up at noon.” The little girl in the middle looked up at them pitifully, clearly at a loss.

“Yuanyuan’s sister must be Qin Xue, right? I saw her on the track the other day—she’s so pretty, like goddess!”

“Are you saying Yuanyuan isn’t cute, then?”

“No…”

“Then we’ll wait for your sister and go eat together.” The girl who said that looked cheerful as she reached out and patted Qin Yuanyuan’s soft little head.

“Mmm... don’t touch me…” Qin Yuanyuan ducked her head while trying to cover the top of it with her hands, but she had no strength—her arms were easily brushed aside.

She knew her sister didn’t like crowds, but she didn’t know how to say no.

The girl who had touched her looked like she’d just been pierced by a cupid’s arrow. She took a deep breath, nearly choking.

Too cute!

“?” Su Yun crept closer and saw the scene, feeling a bit confused, but also relieved.

Relieved because the one being surrounded was Qin Yuanyuan. She hadn’t run off.

Confused because the five girls around her kept touching her—pinching her cheeks, patting her head.

Didn’t seem like bullying, though. Just… overly playful.

“Um, excuse me, what are you doing?” Su Yun cleared her throat and spoke in her current soft, girly voice.

She didn’t want to ruin their fun, but she had a mission.

“Hmm?!” The girl with the book turned around at the sound and was startled by Su Yun’s long white hair.

“Who are you?”

“I…” Su Yun glanced at Qin Yuanyuan in the middle of the group.

Seriously? She wasn’t even looking up.

“I’m a friend of Qin Yuanyuan.”

“You?” The girl looked at her, then lightly poked Qin Yuanyuan’s cheek.

“Yuanyuan, someone’s here for you.”

“Hm? Ah…” Qin Yuanyuan finally looked up and saw Su Yun.

She stared into those deep black eyes and trembled slightly.

Because she knew—Su Yun’s eyes weren’t black. They were red.

“I don’t know her.”

“??” Su Yun watched as Qin Yuanyuan calmly said she didn’t know her, and her face almost turned green.

“Yuanyuan says she doesn’t know you. What are you doing here?” The five girls didn’t back down at all.

Qin Yuanyuan said she didn’t know her, so they stood in front of Su Yun, blocking her path.

This little brat.

“Your sister asked me to pick you up.”

“No! I don’t want you to pick me up—I don’t know you!” Qin Yuanyuan clung to one of the girls and hid behind her.

The girl she was clutching looked down at Qin Yuanyuan’s frightened little face, eyes full of adoration. Then she looked back up at Su Yun like she was about to call the cops.

Su Yun was speechless. In the end, she had to call Qin Xue on the spot.

Only then did Qin Yuanyuan obediently agree to follow her.

As for the other girls, once they heard they were going to Summer's End Plaza for lunch, they all left too.

Clearly a family lunch. They were probably gonna hang out with Qin Yuanyuan afterward.

Only after they left did the girls realize—that white-haired girl from earlier looked kinda familiar.

“A Stunning Sight on the Track (Location: Summer’s End University)”

It was a video that had gone viral on the local TikTok feed.

On the way to the north gate to meet Qin Xue, Qin Yuanyuan didn’t say a word. The two of them kept their distance.

Su Yun walked ahead. Qin Yuanyuan followed three meters behind.

“Sorry.”

“That day, I had just turned into… that. I wasn’t used to it yet, so I bit you.”

“Don’t worry. Your sister gives me food now. I won’t bite again. Don’t be scared.”

Even though Su Yun explained a lot along the way, Qin Yuanyuan still watched her from afar like a frightened kitten.

Well, guess the trauma she left was pretty deep.

It’d take time.

When they reached the north gate, Su Yun spotted a slim girl standing across the street.

Blue pants hugged her long, slender legs. Even with a jacket on, Qin Xue’s arms crossed over her chest only made that part of her look even more prominent, enticing.

Still, that didn’t compare to what Su Yun saw the other night. Qin Xue wearing only a pink nightgown.

Wealthy and generous.

Now that was the full beauty of a woman.

As soon as Qin Yuanyuan saw her sister, she wanted to run over—didn’t even look at the road.

“Watch out!” Su Yun saw a car speeding their way and rushed forward to grab Qin Yuanyuan.

She moved fast, so fast that no one noticed anything strange—just a blink of an eye.

“Ugh! I was watching! That hurts! Let go…” Qin Yuanyuan’s little hand had been squeezed red, her eyes welling up like tears were about to spill.

Su Yun had panicked and used a bit too much strength.

“Sorry.”

“….”

They crossed the street safely. Qin Yuanyuan immediately ran into Qin Xue’s arms.

Su Yun stood off to the side, watching enviously.

She thought—that must be as warm as a mother’s hug (or at least close). Qin Xue was just so wealthy.

“I’ve brought her. I’ll head off now.”

“Don’t go. Come with us.” Just as Su Yun turned to leave, Qin Xue chased after her and grabbed her wrist.

The touch was soft and warm.

“Huh?”

Su Yun had thought it was just a sisters’ lunch. She hadn’t expected to be pulled along too.

“Told you already, didn’t I? You’re supposed to stick with me.” Qin Xue’s sharp eyes swept over Su Yun from head to toe.

Her already cold body shivered from the chill.

“…Got it.”

Accompanying her was part of the girlfriend roleplay, after all.
