Monster Taming Broadcast - Chapter 164

Chapter 164. Unknown World

I used two Dispatch Tickets at the same time.

The targets were the Hedgehog Summoner God and an Iris.

Since it was a general Dispatch Ticket rather than a Designated Dispatch Ticket, they were dispatched to a random world, but since I used the tickets simultaneously, both were sent to the same world.

─[Doodoomba! The great me has arrived!]

─[Arrived.]

On Iris’s screen.

The Hedgehog’s body size wasn’t much different than before.

Thankfully, it seemed its size in the Ancient Labyrinth was its actual size.

【Pururu】─Even the Hedgehog’s body size is the same. Haha.

【Mysticism】─Of course! It was the same when it was dispatched to Earth! 😀

【Yumi】─It’s not a given. That was its form before evolution.

【Luna-chan】─Anyway, at least it didn’t get huge like Melody Fox-chan! Whew!

─[Doom-ba! So, what are we supposed to do now? Shall we look around for now?]

─[Stop. The Hedgehog will wait here for a moment.]

─[Doodoomba?]

─[I’ll ascend and analyze this world before coming back. Until then, don’t act hastily and stay put.]

─[Alright! I’ll dance while waiting!]

─[Confirmed.]

Iris, who was filming the Hedgehog.

It began to float slowly into the sky to capture the landscape of the dispatched world.

【Pururu】─Since Iris is a seasoned dispatcher, it’s good to see it acting on its own without needing commands.

【Luna-chan】─Experience matters, for sure. >.<

【Yumi】─Is this Iris the same one that was dispatched last time?

【Pururu】─Not sure.

【Mysticism】─🤔 Isn’t it a different one?

【Hwang Mir】─Iris all look the same, so it’s hard to tell.

【Bubble Bubble】─I think it’s the same Iris. Each one has slightly different features, and this Iris looks like the one that was dispatched last time.

【Luna-chan】─What features does that Iris have?

【Bubble Bubble】─That one has nine tentacles, with the center tentacle noticeably thin and long. Its eyeball is slightly bigger than the others, and there’s a tiny dot on the upper right. The Iris that was dispatched to Kendra had these features, too.

【Pururu】─Wow, you have a good eye.

【Luna-chan】─(*°ω°*)

Iris climbed up out of the coniferous forest into the high sky.

It gazed down to capture the landscape of this world.

An endless expanse of green land.

Giant ferns shooting up toward the sky.

Mountain ranges rising on the horizon, and volcanoes spewing black smoke along the ridges.

Only the pure breath of nature filled this world.

There was no trace of civilization anywhere.

─[Moving to a higher altitude.]

With those words.

Iris quickly began to ascend further.

It eventually reached outer space, outside the planet.

─[Analyzing the planet.]

─[······.]

─[Analysis complete.]

【Pururu】─?? Already done?

【Mysticism】─😮

─[Confirmed: No higher life forms present. Only primitive creatures exist.]

【Hwang Mir】─Looks like there are no intelligent beings on this planet.

【Rizenova】─Seems like this dispatch was a bust.

As Rizenova mentioned, this world was indeed a bust.

If there were no intelligent beings to communicate with, it would be impossible to set up a Dimensional Altar.

“Iris. Are you certain there are no intelligent beings?”

─[Certain.]

“…Alright, then we have no choice.”

─[No choice.]

【Hwang Mir】─What a waste of a Dispatch Ticket. Should we try farming some useful resources at least?

【Pururu】─Dispatched monsters can’t bring items from the world they’re dispatched to.

【Hwang Mir】─Oh, right. I forgot.

It was a bit disappointing, but.

That didn’t mean the Dispatch Ticket was wasted.

General Dispatch Tickets were in ample supply anyway and weren’t that expensive.

“I guess we’ll just think of this dispatch as a vacation for them.”

─[Vacation.]

“Stop repeating what I say, and go back down to rejoin the Hedgehog.”

─[Rejoin.]

Iris quickly descended.

And before long, it arrived back at its original location.

The Hedgehog hadn’t left its spot.

Of course, it hadn’t been just standing still.

─[Doom-ba! Doodoomba! Shake that booty!]

─[Doom-ba…]

─[Doodoomba…]

It was performing the “Doodoomba” dance, having summoned two SS-rank Undead Spirits to dance along.

Incidentally, the SS-rank Undead Spirits hadn’t changed in size since being summoned in the Ancient Labyrinth.

【Rizenova】─As expected, busy dancing.

【Yumi】─The Hedgehog shakes its booty every chance it gets.

【Mysticism】─It’s addicted to dancing! 🤭

【Pururu】─Seems like it’s got anxiety issues.

After reuniting with the Hedgehog.

Iris informed it that there was nothing specific for them to do in this world, and that I had told them to just enjoy their “vacation.”

Hearing this, the Hedgehog’s eyes sparkled as it bounced its rear five times.

─[A vacation? Great! Then let’s dance for 24 hours straight and head back! Doodoomba!]

─[Ah…]

─[Dancing continuously…]

The SS-rank spirits’ faces grew gloomy.

Unlike the other spirits, those two still hadn’t gotten used to the “Doodoomba” dance.

Forcing those guys to dance for 24 hours straight was practically torture.

Not that I felt sorry for them.

They deserved some punishment.

After all, they were the ones who tried to mess with the Hedgehog and kill it back in the Abyss.

It seemed the Hedgehog still held a grudge, pushing the SS-rank spirits even harder.

─[Don’t stop shaking those hips! Keep moving!]

─[Doom-ba!]

─[Doo-doom-ba!]

─[Doom-ba! Iris, join in and shake your booty! Shape your tentacles like a rear and shake it!]

─[Refusal.]

Iris flatly rejected the suggestion and turned its head away.

Then, as it calmly floated off in one direction, it spoke.

─[If there is nothing to see, Gauntlet gets bored. Thus, I will look around the area and observe the primitive creatures.]

─[Doom-ba? You can just watch my dance!]

─[Refusal.]

It felt as if Iris had read my mind.

I was already curious about what creatures inhabited this world.

When it showed the ground from above earlier, the creatures hadn’t come into view.

─[Moving.]

Iris picked up speed and distanced itself from the Hedgehog.

About five minutes later.

Just as the Hedgehog was no longer visible.

Boom!

Boom!

Boom!

A heavy rumbling echoed nearby.

Iris paused in response to the ground vibrations, like a minor earthquake had occurred.

─[Primitive creature detected.]

Iris’s gaze shifted smoothly.

Then a massive creature came into view on the screen.

“What? A dinosaur?”

─[Dinosaur? I shall refer to it as a dinosaur.]

【Pururu】─It’s a dinosaur!!!

【Mysticism】─😱😱😱

【Hwang Mir】─Wow! This is my first time seeing a dinosaur!

【Yumi】─It’s huge…

【Bubble Bubble】─For a second, I thought it was a dragon.

【Luna-chan】─It’s definitely not a dragon since it doesn’t have wings. Could it be a giant drake?

“It’s not a drake, just a dinosaur. Its danger level is only D-grade.”

【Rizenova】─To be that massive but only D-grade… it’s a creature unworthy of its size.

【Pururu】─D-grade? That’s really low.

【Mysticism】─Looks like dinosaurs are weak creatures!

【Yumi】─Isn’t D-grade considered high?

【Hwang Mir】─Yes, it is. Starting from D-grade is the level of the Superhuman Realm, after all.

【Mysticism】─😮 Right, D-grade is high.

【Pururu】─Well, for humans, sure, but isn’t D-grade low given its size?

【Yumi】─It’s resistant to bullets, so it’s not low.

【Pururu】─Of course, regular bullets wouldn’t work. Dinosaurs like that would have super thick skin.

【Mysticism】─🧐

It wasn’t exactly low-level or high-level.

It just possessed a danger level appropriate for its size.

And while D-grade creatures were said to withstand bullets.

This didn’t mean low-caliber bullets were always ineffective.

If a D-grade creature were caught off-guard, bullets could still penetrate.

If someone’s body wasn’t inherently sturdy enough to justify a high danger level.

In other words, if they weren’t physically strong but instead had special abilities, they’d need to have a shield or recognize the attack to defend against bullets.

For a mage, for example.

If they were asleep or unconscious without a shield, a bullet to the head could still kill them.

Physical types could also be vulnerable if struck in a vital spot.

It’s quite difficult to strengthen every part of the body.

Oh, and by the way, firearms existed in Elemencia, too.

Though only a few people used them as their main weapon.

At any rate.

Despite being only D-grade, the dinosaur didn’t flee upon seeing Iris.

Not only was its intelligence low.

It also seemed incapable of instinctively assessing the strength of its opponent.

Simply put.

It probably perceived large creatures as threats and small creatures as weak.

─[Goooorrrr.]

The dinosaur lowered its head slightly to scrutinize Iris.

Its expression suddenly twisted.

Like it had seen something unpleasant, its face contorted in disgust.

─[Question: Why that expression?]

─[Goooorrrr!]

Perhaps it wanted to get rid of this irritating creature.

The dinosaur pulled back its head and swung its massive tail at Iris.

Naturally, the tail didn’t reach Iris.

Ziiing-!

Iris reacted instantly, emitting a laser that sliced through the dinosaur’s tail.

Thud!

The heavy tail, now severed, crashed to the ground.

At the same time.

Iris’s laser severed all four of the dinosaur’s legs.

─[Goooooorrrrr!!!]

The dinosaur, having lost its legs, let out a shriek as it collapsed to the ground with a deafening crash.

Iris quickly flew forward, stopping just in front of the dinosaur’s face.

Then it met the dinosaur’s gaze.

─[Question.]

A chilling voice echoed from Iris’s body.

─[Question: What was the meaning behind the expression you just made?]

─[Go… gooorrr…]

─[Question: Why did you look at me with that gaze?]

─[Goorrrr…]

The dinosaur no longer displayed the disdain it had at the beginning.

Now, its eyes and expression were filled only with fear.

Iris kept questioning it, staring intently into its eyes.

─[Question: Why did you make that face?]

─[Question: After observing me, why did you attack?]

─[Question: Did you feel disgust when looking at me?]

─[Question.]

─[Question.]
